Externships
An externship is an opportunity for first- and second-year students to shadow an alumnus or alumna in his or her place of work. Externships are an excellent way to gain hands-on experience and information about potential career paths, as well as to build your network. Past University of Chicago externs have gone on to intern in the same organization where they first shadowed an alum. The externship is also an excellent way to build up the “experience” section of your resume. Make sure to look at the Career Advancement website to find more information on our externship programs.

Treks
Career Exploration Treks are 1-3 day industry-specific field trips. They are a great way for you to meet with firms in a particular industry and interact face-to-face with employers, have your resumes evaluated, and potentially speak with employers about recruiting opportunities. Apply now for one of these treks and have the chance to spend two days visiting employers, networking with professionals and meeting students and alumni from participating universities.
