The Gospel Music Festival will take place June 5 & 6, 2010 in Millennium Park. The festival features more than 50 performances on three stages and activities for the whole family to enjoy including a gospel art fair.

From April 30 through June 3, the Gene Siskel Film Center in partnership with the Consulate General of Korea in Chicago, and in cooperation with the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), presents the series Korean Cinema on the Fast Track. SPOTLIGHT ON: Steppenwolf's The Brother/Sister Plays

A breakthrough theatrical event: three interconnected plays in two programs by a brilliant new American voice. Grand in scope, yet intimate and heartfelt, Tarell McCraney’s delightful stories will leave you touched and inspired.

Steppenwolf will present The Brother/Sister Plays in repertory, with In the Red and Brown Water on one evening, in rotation with the two shorter plays on another. The plays can be experienced in any order, although chronologically In Red and Brown Water comes first, The Brothers Size second and Marcus; Or the Secret of Sweet third. The three plays don’t line up in a neat linear way: they reflect on each other, echo, contradict, remind. They're less in a perfect chronology than they are "in conversation" with each other. Our repertory scheduling makes attending both programs easy, with options to see the entire story in one day on Saturdays and Sundays.

Luna Negra Dance Theater celebrates Mexico with a passionate and colorful program revealing the complexity and richness of Mexico's cultural influence on contemporary Latino choreographers. The program features the world premiere of Frida! by Michelle Manzanales, inspired by the art and life of Frida Kahlo, Quinceañera by Eduardo Vilaro, and Plight by Edgar Zendejas.

Founded by Eduardo Vilaro in 1999, Luna Negra Dance Theater has established itself as a significant and vital component of Chicago’s arts and cultural community. Since its beginning, the company has served as a springboard for Latino contemporary choreographers to give expression to their stories and bring new life to the cultures of their communities. Steering away from stereotypes and folkloric representations, Luna Negra brings to audiences modern Latino expressions with energy, power and passion, reflecting through dance the immense cultural shift that is shaping America in the 21st century.
